BURROWING OWL PICTURES

March 2007

This, and the next two pictures, are taken in the morning.
I'm standing on the road side, and they are about 15 feet away
Their burrow or nest is under the big rock on the left side of the picture

The last pictures were taken in the evening. They stay in their nest during the heat of the day and come out in the early morning or early evening.

Remember, they are only about 7 or 8 inches tall

They watched us carefully, but showed no real concern. I guess if we had tried to approach them they would have reacted.
So would the people on the gate at Palm Creek. They have sort of adopted them. I wonder how long they will last. They have been there for 3 years so far ....
They are quite hard to see hidden amongst the old cement blocks
Just how close are they? I turned and took this picture of the Gate to the Park.
