OCTOBER '07 PICTURES

In the past, some have complained that we do not have enough pictures of Harvey. So, this time we took shots as we left DogPatch
You can see that the weather had been wet, but the sky was lightening up a bit ... Harvey was ready to go
I think, if I remember correctly, I was making an obscene gesture as I drove by Elsie ... fortunately the camera missed it
This was the road that last year had a foot of snow on it as we were trying to leave. Nice Fall day this time!
The difference between this shot and the next one is that I did remember to stop to let Elsie get in ... fortunate eh?
Elsie on board and off we go at a record time of 7:30 on October 6th
The last stop in Washington State for propane. Hopefully, the next time we have to fill Harvey's tank will be when we return.... Dreamer ...?????
Fall colours as we wander down the I 5
Winecountry RV Resort in Paso Robles. A NICE spot but they charge 1.00 per day per dog
Last time we stay here!!!!
Nice sights but from this picture you don't see the loose sand Harvey is on. When it gets wet, all you can do is track in sand ...all over the rugs. YECH!!! Elsie is one unhappy Camper!!!!!
Arty shot of Harvey in the Campground
Pismo Beach ... we took a drive along the Coast looking for alternative campgrounds to Paso Robles and the outrageous charge for dogs
Sitting in the Customer Lounge in National RV ... I look unhappy but I'm not. They treat us very well here
Road to Tucson ... We love this area
The first Seminar ... I understood one word in 3 and one concept in 10 ... I sure am not electrical engineer
They understood what was being said here .... sigh ...
This is the location for the Rally and they provide an auditorium complete with AC thank goodness. The temperatures hit 106 F ( 41 C ) one day
Do I look bored, confused, puzzled??? Maybe all three??? This is Glenn Simpson and his wife Sheila. He is a dealer for Sat systems on a tripod. He was the fellow who tried to show me how to set up a tripod and by doing this actually drove me to buy the roof top setup that operates by only pushing buttons. He forgave me though. If you are looking to buy a tripod system, he is the best by far. They have a stand in the Yuma Market during the winter. He not only knows the Sat business really well, we can joke about history and literature. Not just a geek.( http://www.dish-on-a-stick.com) Tell him I sent you....
A techie on a roof. The MotoSat people who build the mechanical parts put on the Rally and send their tech support people
The unit does look impressive, eh
and
The Lords seem to be enjoying themselves. They even try to play together but Thurston is a little bit too aggressive for Stanley
Thurston usually wins the pull game and Stanley just looks on
Just in case Stanley tries to steal it Thurston hangs on at all times
Thurston likes to jump and sit on his cage. Stanley has more class and chooses not to sit there ... is fear a factor?
Ahhh... the work of the humble scribe is never done
Elsie at rest ... puzzling away with the dogs at her feet. Domestic Bliss????
If there is a sunbeam the dogs will find it. I am impressed at just how much heat Thurston can take
Stanley is a little to big and heavy to sit on the back of the sofa, but Thurston just loves to sit and bake there
Day trip from St David's to Bisbee, and old mining town that has reinvented itself as an artist hangout.
Perched right on the side of the mountain the streets seem to be hanging on air. We have found a great little restaurant there for lunch. It was still good this year ... Cafe Cornucopia
They are saying that the mine might reopen next year due to the high copper prices recently. Just what affect that would have on the town will be interesting to see.
A neat little town on the mountain side
We went on to Douglas right on the Border. The house colours are to say the least .... interesting???
More colourful imaginations for house colours
The Mexican Border. US on the right, a 30 foot ditch in the middle and a 12 foot barbed wire fence on the left
We couldn't help but compare this to the 49th parallel
It goes on for miles
We stopped and talked to one of the border guards. He spends 8 hours a day sitting in the truck parallel to the border watching. Just watching ... It is so hot that he has to have the motor running for the AC to work. What a job!!! Nice Guy to talk to though.
Neat rock formations as we drive by
The amazing thing is that they have not been "tagged" by the jerk element. Do you think maybe that even they are impressed by the natural beauty?
While we were in St David's we went to the local fete in a place called Dragoon. All sorts of local crafts on offer. It was so hot, we could not leave the dogs in the car so we took them with us. Boy were they a hit. Everyone had to meet and pat them.
A neat little country fair. Lots to see
I couldn't resist this ... I don't think the Democrats are very numerous in this area.
All sorts of artists must live in this area.
I took this as a western equivalent of a Dutch Windmill. Just for Elsie .... a touch of the old country
